We have developed a method for sculpting vessel sinks like the one pictured at left that is unique to the art. The wet cement is placed by hand and sculpted on a platform similar to a potters wheel. We have named the process "Hand Thrown Concrete". As the cement sets it is formed by hand tools into the design of the finished surface. Once the cement has set it is then carved by hand to reveal the aggregates in the cement. At this time any veins or pitting are filled with cement of a contrasting color to give a marbled affect. After the secondary fill is set the piece will be polished by hand to a smooth uniform finished. The piece will be quite pleasing to touch.

The concrete used to produce items like this sink is a special high performance mixture that we have developed over the past few years. It is extremely lightweight and durable and allows us the time to carve and form it after it sets. It is like concrete on steroids.

Many methods are available to add unique colors. Chemical and other stains can be applied to enhance to appearance of the piece. Once finished a clear durable sealer will be applied for protection.

To purchase this or other sinks, contact me at 615/426-2677 with shipping info. Payment can be made via PayPal. We will also accept commissions for work on custom pieces.
